About
History
Our passion for guiding riders through progression and enabling careers as instructors was borned from the very personal experience of Alan, owner and manager of KBL Sessions.
Windsurfer from the age of 14, and kiteboarder since 2003, he had a very interesting Sales Engineer career but a basic kiteboarding level for 15 years. The need for the outdoors and action sports was too hard to contain behind a corporate desk, so he took a career break in 2016 and did his IKO Assistant Instructor course in Hawaii.
Alan joined the  KBL Sports team in 2017 as IKO instructor Level 1. Became Level 2 in 2018 after a season at ION Club in Spain, and then the last Level 3 in 2019.
Hungry for progression himself and knowledge, he went on to get certified as IKO Coach in Italy to run IKO Level 5 Evolution Clinics & Camps.
He always says "teaching is learning twice", and as he loves learning, it was only natural to keep going and become an Assistant Instructor Trainer in 2021.
Beside continuously improving his own riding level, Alan's next professional goal is to become IKO Examiner which will take a few ... years.
At age 45, Alan has progressed more in the last 4 years than in the first 15 years of riding. This is the result of the Step-by-Step trick professional lesson plans.
At the 2023 Sydney King of Big Air competition, organised by Kiteboarding Australia in Kurnell on 11 Feb 2023, Alan made through 3 rounds and ranked in the Top 5 out of 16 talented riders.
Progression never stops!
